Ads bring with them a major challenge. How do you reach your audience
when you are surrounded by a million other ads trying to do the same
thing? The key is to know your audience, what makes them tick and
then find creative ways to speak to them like no one else does.

Magazine Ad (Stereophile)
Description:
When owner Tom came to us he wanted an ad that he could run in a related
magazine. Our initial meeting revealed that he had no logo or any
branding of any kind. He had been using a stock business card where
he just changed the business name and contact information.
We
suggested doing a simple logo that would be easy to reproduce and
that he could use with many different mediums. It would be a great
way to begin creating a brand that would grow with him as his business
grew.
He
loved the idea so we go to work. The logo came very quickly. We went
for a steely blue color rather than the typical black and gray found
with many similar business logos. When the logo was complete we took
cues from the logo to create a color palette.
After
spending time looking through the magazine we found that many ads
were very stylized meaning there was an obvious grundge or rock-n-roll
vibe. Tom didn't want that and that wasn't the audience he was after.
He was seeking more of the well off hobbiest looking to buy some high-end
equipment to enjoy in his spare time.
We
went with that and developed a much sleeker, sophisticated design
that showed off the equipment he sells rather than being full of wild
graphics. The end result was that he felt the design matched what
he was going for and represented who he was as well.
